What is your nationality?
China offers fully funded scholarships for international students through the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), plus university, provincial and city programs. They cover tuition, accommodation, a monthly stipend and insurance — and several options do not require IELTS.
China Scholarships for International Students in 2026
China is now one of the most generous study destinations in the world for international students. Through the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) and hundreds of university, provincial and city programs, students from Morocco, across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia can study in China fully funded — covering tuition, accommodation, a monthly stipend and medical insurance. Whether you are applying for a bachelor, master or PhD, there is a scholarship designed for your profile.
Types of Scholarships Available
The CSC scholarship is the flagship program, administered by the China Scholarship Council under the Ministry of Education. Beyond it, top universities such as Tsinghua, Peking, Fudan and Zhejiang offer their own institutional awards, while provinces like Jiangsu, Guangdong and Fujian fund regional scholarships for international talent. Many of these can be combined or applied for in parallel, and several English-taught programs accept students without IELTS.
What a Fully Funded Scholarship Covers
A fully funded China scholarship typically includes full tuition, free on-campus housing, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly stipend of roughly CNY 2,500 for undergraduates, CNY 3,000 for master's students and CNY 3,500 for doctoral students. When you compare this with the already low cost of living in China, studying in China becomes one of the most affordable ways to earn a world-recognised degree. Use our scholarship guide to understand each program's coverage in detail.
How to Apply and Win a Scholarship
The application process usually opens between December and April. You will need a valid passport, notarized transcripts and diploma, a strong study plan or research proposal, two recommendation letters, a physical examination form, and language proof (HSK for Chinese-taught programs, IELTS/TOEFL for some English-taught ones). International students must also secure a student visa (X1/X2) after admission. Our team helps you prepare every document and apply through the right channel — embassy or direct to university — to maximise your chances.
